Saturday, August 17, 2024 – The Gaza Strip

General

‣ 69 persons killed;

‣ 136 persons wounded;

‣ Since October 7th, 2023:

◦ 40,074 persons killed (registered) in this war;

◦ 92,537 persons wounded (registered) in this war;

‣ 2 reserves soldiers killed as explosive charge exploded in Al Zeitoun, and 10 soldiers wounded;

‣ 24 hours*.

‣ The Israeli army issued more evacuation orders for inhabitants of Al Maghazi refugee camp, thus reducing the “safe” area to 11% of the Strip only, which is now supposed to shelter about 2 million people.

Attacks against Israel

1. Rockets fired at Re’im.

Northern Strip

1. Gaza City:

‣ Tel Al Hawa (south-west) - artillery fire several times during the day;

‣ Eastern part of town - artillery fire;

‣ Al Zeitoun - explosive charge activated against a military force, 2 soldiers killed;

‣ Al Sabra (south) - apartment bombed.

Central Strip

Al Zawaida. 15 members of the Ajlah family were killed here

1. Al Zawaida:

‣ Aerial bombing of family home, 15 persons killed - a man, three women and 9 children. Several children wounded as well.

2. Nuseirat refugee camp:

‣ Aerial bombing west of the camp, 6 persons killed, 4 children among them;

‣ Aerial bombing, one person killed and others wounded.

3. Deir Al Balah:

‣ Aerial bombing south-west of the town;

‣ Artillery fire east of the town;

‣ House bombed, 4 persons killed.

4. Al Bureij refugee camp - artillery fire.

Southern Strip

1. Khan Yunis and surroundings:

‣ Aerial bombing during the night;

‣ Bombing of a horse and a wagon, 2 dead;

‣ Hamad (north-west Khan Yunis) - drone fire at displaced persons tents at night, a 6-year-old child killed. Artillery fire. Aerial bombings. 2 persons killed. Machine-gun fire;

Al Mawasi (west) - helicopter fire;

Abasan Al Kabira (south-east) - body extracted from the rubble;

Al Qarara (north-east) - aerial bombing.

2. Rafah:

‣ Explosion of residential buildings at Tel Al Sultan (west);

‣ Artillery fire west of the town.
