Friday, September 25, 2026 – The West Bank

General

1. 30 years since the "Tunnel Uprising." In September 1996, the government of Israel headed by Benjamin Netanyahu decided to open a northern exit for the Western Wall Tunnels onto the Via Dolorosa in the Muslim Quarter. The Waqf and the Palestinian Authority claimed this was harming the foundations of Al-Aqsa Mosque and changing the status quo, and called on the public to go out and protest. Severe clashes broke out in Jerusalem and spread throughout the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. In the unrest, which included the use of firearms, about 100 Palestinians and 17 Israeli army soldiers were killed.

2. The Southern District Attorney's Office filed an indictment against 12 Israel Prison Service guards at Ktzi'ot Prison for beating to death the security detainee Tha'er Abu Asab, a resident of Qalqilya and member of the Fatah organization, in November 2023. The main charges include manslaughter through recklessness, aggravated assault, and causing bodily harm.

Raids and Arrests

‣ Jenin refugee camp and town (Day 621), Tulkarm refugee camp and town (Day 615), Nur Shams refugee camp (Day 601);

‣ Overnight raids conducted in Hableh, Ras Atiya, Silwad, Silwan, Ramallah, Illar, Qabatiya, Misilyah, Ajjah, Beit Amin, Izbat Abu Salman, Urif, Beita. Daytime raids carried out in Kafr al-Labad, Beit Furik, Asira ash-Shamaliya, Taluza, Yasid, Silwad (second time), Hebron, Tarqumiyah, Sa'ir, Ni'lin, Kafr Malik, Beit Fajjar, Al Fawwar refugee camp, Tuqu'a. No report was given on the number of detainees and those held. In a manual count and review of the incidents, at least 6 people were arrested.

‣ Alaa Hassan al-Rimawi, a journalist and senior commentator who held a series of managerial positions at news agencies, and who had been held in administrative detention since October 2023 for about two years, was arrested again about a week ago, and today was transferred to four months of administrative detention.

Israeli Military Attacks on Palestinians

1. Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem - Clashes.

2. Qabatiya, south of Jenin - Pre-dawn raid on a number of homes. Reinforcements. Turning a home into a military post. Mass detentions and field interrogations accompanied by severe violence. The forces left in the morning. No arrests were reported.

3. Hebron - Curfew in Wadi al-Hussein to allow colonists to celebrate the Sukkot holiday.

4. Sa'ir, north of Hebron - Clashes. Tear gas fired and suffocation injuries, including children.

5. Al Fawwar refugee camp, south of Hebron - Fire opened at Palestinian vehicles passing on the dirt road that bypasses the closed iron gate at the entrance to the camp.

6. Tarqumiyah, west of Hebron - Clashes.

7. Silwan, Jerusalem - Night raid on the Ein al-Louza neighborhood. One wounded.

8. At-Tuwani, Masafer Yatta - A military force accompanied by colonists attacked residents using tear gas and stun grenades, and detained a resident.

9. Ramallah - Night raid on a home in the Ein Misbah neighborhood, and another raid on the Al-Manara Square area.

10. Al-Mughayyir, north-east of Ramallah - The army vacated the house that had become a military post in the eastern neighborhood, after having held it for the last 24 hours and expelling its residents.

11. Silwad, north-east of Ramallah - Clashes, tear gas.

12. Ni'lin, west of Ramallah - Clashes.

13. Beit Furik, east of Nablus - The army prevented worshippers from reaching Al-Hajj Hussein mosque in the east of the village with their vehicles and forced those coming for Friday prayers to arrive on foot.

14. Beita, south of Nablus - Raid in the early evening on a bakery. Delays and field interrogations. Clashes, tear gas fired.

942 checkpoints, closures and military obstacles cut through the West Bank and restrict the movement of Palestinian residents. In the past two months, 13 more checkpoints and gates were added, 10 of them in Jenin district alone.

Demolitions, Confiscations, and Blockades

1. Raba, south-east of Jenin - closure of the iron gate at the entrance to the village.

2. Biddu, north-west of Jerusalem - a confiscation order prior to demolition issued for the home of Qadri Samara, who carried out the run-over attack at Beit Ur Checkpoint two days ago.

3. Beit Rima, north-west of Ramallah - continued uprooting of olive trees laden with fruit using bulldozers.

Colonist Attacks on Palestinians

1. Al Maniya, south-east of Bethlehem - Uprooting and destruction of dozens of fruit-laden olive trees.

2. Arraba, south-west of Jenin - Provocations around homes in the town.

3. Beit Ummar, north of Hebron - Attack involving live fire in the Khirbat Safa area in the north of the town.

4. Khallet al-Hummus, Masafer Yatta - Colonists cut down olive trees.

5. Rantis, west of Ramallah - Colonists attempted to set a vehicle on fire and sprayed nationalist graffiti. They withdrew when residents confronted them.

6. Umm Safa, north-west of Ramallah - A group of colonists attacked a home in the east of the village.

7. Awarta, south-east of Nablus - Dozens of colonists entered, accompanied by military forces, the compound of the Qabr al-Uzayr mosque, which they attribute to Eleazar the Priest, in the north-west of the village, and performed rituals and prayers.

8. Aqraba, south-east of Nablus - Colonists attacked a woman with pepper spray.

9. As-Sawiya, south of Nablus - Provocations on the main street.

10. Yitzhar colony, south of Nablus - Colonists attacked Palestinian vehicles near the colony.

11. Asira al-Qibliya, south of Nablus - Attack on the Bedouin community adjacent to the village and theft of livestock.
