General

1. On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched a combined attack on Iran. The objectives were ambiguous and shifted over time: regime change, removal of the nuclear threat, and following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz – its reopening.Iran responded with missile launches (ballistic, guided, cluster warheads and others) and UAVs toward Israel and U.S. targets in the Gulf states, including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

2. On March 2, 2026, Hezbollah joined the fighting, launching missiles and UAVs toward Israel. Israel responded with airstrikes and a limited ground incursion into Lebanon, with the declared aim of dismantling Hezbollah and establishing a buffer zone up to the Litani River.

3. In Iraq, Shiite militias operated against U.S. targets in Baghdad. The Americans responded with airstrikes on militia strongholds in the north of the country.

4. The Houthis joined in early April, launching UAVs and missiles toward Israel.

5. On April 8, 2026, a two-week ceasefire was declared, involving Iran, the United States and Israel, mediated by Pakistan. Fighting in Lebanon was still ongoing at the time of writing.

Iraq
